Running a Market

A Market is a collection of stocks. In Market4thought, these stocks are predictions about outcomes important to the organization: projects, goals, or innovations. When an organization creates a market in Market4thought, it needs a Commissioner: someone to set up the stocks, assign stock managers, and generally maintain order. The Commissioner's job is critical, but also a lot of fun. And Market4thought makes it easy.

Create Stocks

To set up a new market, the Commissioner uses Market4thought forms to create stocks. The Commissioner enters a title for the stock, a formal prediction statement, and a 3- or 4-character ticker-symbol. The Commissioner must also establish a Payday: a date when the prediction will be declared true or false.

Assign Stock Managers

Next, the Commissioner assigns Stock Managers to each prediction. Stock Managers update information about the project, goal, or innovation as things progress. Usually, the Stock Manager is the person leading the subject project or initiative. The Commissioner has the power to change Stock Managers at any time, should circumstances require it.

Invite Investors

The Commissioner then invites people (Market4thought investors) to participate in the market. The Commissioner enters each person's email address into a simple form; Market4thought takes care of the rest, sending out invitations handling registration.

Wield Power!

Once the market is set up, the Commissioner's job is mostly done. He or she can sit back and watch the fun, intervening only to make adjustments when needed. The Commissioner fulfills a very powerful role and is in a position to use Market4thought to dramatically increase the ROI of a portfolio of projects, goals, or innovations.
