Managing a Stock

In Market4thought, every stock has a Stock Manager: a person that updates information about the stock's prediction. Usually, the person selected for this role is the same person responsible for the project, goal, or innovation associated with the stock's prediction. For example, the project manager would be a logical choice to update information about the prediction, "Project X will generate $4.2 million in revenue this year."

Project Leaders make natural Stock Managers

There are many reasons why such a person should be the Stock Manager. Continuing with our example, the manager for "Project X" will have the most up-to-date information about the project's status. This person will also have ready access to project information (such as status reviews), making updates in Market4thought a matter of cut-and-paste.

Information Flows... ROI Grows

This flow of information from the project manager to the investors is valuable. But even more intriguing is the information flowing back to the project manager. Being responsible for the success of the project makes this person keenly interested in the stock price. A sagging stock price creates a healthy sense of urgency in the project manager. If the project is actually doing well, then the project manager must consider improving communication about the project. If the poor stock price is for a good reason, then the project manager needs to take action to correct things.

Involve the Brain Trust

The project manager also receives information from the organization's brain trust through Market4thought's Discussion Board. Do people in different parts of the organization see things the project manager is missing? Or are there misperceptions about the project that need to be corrected? Market4thought encourages a strong, candid 2-way communication about the projects, goals, and ideas crucial to the organization's success.
