Market4thought does not use real money. When users join a market in Market4thought, they receive virtual "market bucks" to buy and sell stock shares. Market Bucks are designated with a leading "M$" sign before the amount. Several studies have shown little or no difference in the accuracy of market predictions when using real versus "play" money.

Why do I get charged a virtual transaction fee when I purchase stock? Each time you purchase shares of a stock, the price of the stock goes up, because more people now own shares. That means that the shares you just bought are now worth slightly more than when you purchased them. This represents an artificial means of increasing a person's net worth that we discourage. The market owners want people to trade stocks based on expectations about the prediction's performance.
